After Epilogue
A story about after the path of a hero's journey has been walked to completion and costs of taking up the sword, or worse yet, not putting it back down.
THE GAME
The strugle after the adventure.
What happens after a hero has completed their legendary quest? What is the price of gaining and wielding the power to crush world dominating evil? Even legends are people, only their choices cast far larger ripples in the pond of history.
Play as a legendary hero, the slayer of the demon lord, shortly after successfully saving the world. Do you complete the pact you made to gain power and hang up your sword, or continue to wield that power in an attempt to enact your chosen justice in the world?
This is one of the first proper “vertical slices” I made in Godot. Heavily inspired by the short story Navigators by Mike Meginnis and every “chosen hero slays the dark lord” story under the sun. I thought it would be both narratively and mechanically interesting for the arc of the game to be relinquishing the artifacts that grant you overwhelming powers. Dungeons were designed to be in and out where you went in with the dungeon’s key item, relinquished it, then had to defeat the boss and make your way back out without the tool that made getting in trivial.
